1.Live Wholehearted & Prayerful.
It’s been so much fun reading everyone’s “word” for 2018. I’ve seen things like “connection,” “consistency,” and “closer.” I’ve never been one to choose a word for the year, but I thought it’d be interesting to take part and focus on a specific theme. Somehow these two words just came to me: Wholehearted & Prayerful. For me this simply means living and loving with my whole heart, and praying often about everything and anything. Most importantly, I hope to spend way more time praying than I do worrying!
2. Feed my creative spirit.
Drawing, writing, bullet journaling, scrapbooking, making videos – I want to spend less time on my phone and more time creating.
3. Bask in God’s artistry & creation.
Activities include: hikes, walks, trails, exploring the outdoors
I’d like to spend more time admiring nature, the ocean, the trees outside my window, & the sunrise + sunset in front of me.
4. Be more mindful of of what I consume.
I recently watched “Minimalism: A Documentary About the Important Things” on Netflix and was inspired by its message. This year I want to be more mindful of the things I consume. This is not limited to material goods but also to the things I consume through the TV and my phone. I want to be mindful of the information that I allow myself to take in especially when I fall into the moments of mindlessly scrolling through social media. Lastly, I want to be more mindful of the foods that I consume!
5. Learn for the sake of learning.
I’ve already started by enrolling in early childhood education classes this quarter! Although I’m not that thrilled about stepping back into the cycle of homework and finals, I am super excited to be taking steps to become a better teacher for my students 🙂 Also on the list of things I want to learn: hand lettering + painting with watercolors.
6. Wake up an hour earlier.
Getting enough sleep and waking up early is a keystone habit for me. I’ve noticed my entire day feels better when I wake up earlier because I have the chance to ease myself into the morning and start my day slowly. It feels so good to take my time making breakfast and crawling back into bed with a warm cup of tea for some quiet time. I actually started waking up an hour earlier before the new year began but got thrown off during the week of Christmas/new year so I’m hoping to start back up again!
7. Take control of my finances.
Because well, I’m trying to be a responsible “adult.” *Sigh* Does anyone know how to unsubscribe from this service that I did not sign up for?
8. Practice being more playful & lighthearted.
Because life is too short to be taken SO seriously!!! I want to spend less time stressing over the little things/taking things to heart and more time belly laughing + living my best life!!!
I’m excited for all that God has in store for 2018! What are some things you guys hope to do more of in 2018? I would love to hear about it! 🙂
See you in my next blog!
